Fighting Angels Foundation Event 2015

This past April I had the honor of attending and donating my services for a very special foundation that is near and dear to my heart. The Raise your Wings Gala event is held every year in the hope to bring awareness and raise funding money for Angelman Syndrome.

The Fighting Angels Foundation is an organization dedicated to support, raise awareness  and fund research for the rare neuro-gentetic disorder.

Fighting to Talk, Fighting to Walk, Fighting for a Cure.

A few months back I was perusing the internet for new makeup and tools to fill my kit a bit more (its just about exploding with goodies at this point). I decided to text my friend Stephanie who is the Creative Marketing Director for Mehron Makeup  and who is also the Co-Owner of the fabulous Greek Spot Cafe' here in Milford, CT(be sure to try The Cotter Crabcake Sandi, it's delicious... hehe) If your in the area and in the mood for some awesome Greek food be sure to go there. You will NOT be sorry!!!

Stephanie and I got to chatting back and forth about the different products that Mehron Makeup offers and I was blown away with what she had to say about them. Here's just a smidge of what sold me on the products.

  • The Celebre' Pro-HD makeup foundation is oil free and fragrance free. It contains powerful antioxidants such as vitamin E, pomegranate and aloe vera that will help soothe the skin... let's be honest we all want our skin to look and feel its best- plus it feels like butter on your skin- silky smooth coverage!!
  • The Velvet Finish Primer Serum has vitamin C, aloe vera extract and vitamin E which also aids in the aging process while prepping your skin.
  • Skin PREP- OMG...this product is for all you sweaters out there (yes, you too men). This product is miracle in a bottle. It acts as a moisture barrier between your skin and your makeup, so whether its a hot summer day, a prom with all your class mates or your dancing the night away at a wedding that sweat wont be screaming and dripping from your pores!!!!!!
  • The INTense PRO Pressed Pigment eye shadows have built in primers.

I could go on and on about what sold me but the #1 was that their products are made in the U.S. NEVER tested on animals and a very large selection of their product is vegan. Love!! Click here for a list of all the Vegan products.

After talking a bit Steph said, "I'll just send you a few different products to tryout and sample yourself". Awesome, I can play with the samples a bit before making a large purchase!!

Well...rewind to last week, Stephanie was running back and forth to NYFW with numerous different shows that Mehron was involved in and on the ONE day that she didn't have a show, we met up to have a meeting on all the products.

YES...I had a fabulous one on one class on each and every product that Mehron offers for their beauty line.

I was and still am BLOWN AWAY with the "samples" that I was given to try and and will forever be grateful for the chance to try them on all my beautiful clients. I can't wait to purchase everything!!

I can't thank you enough Steph, you are just too sweet!!

Stay tuned for a follow up interview with Stephanie herself and tons of feedback from me about all the far my reaction is WOW, and why haven't I tried these sooner :)

Kisses, Love and Mascara Always,

Brrrrr... it's cold!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful snow that was just dumped on us. A BIG thank you to the "mini blizzard of 2015".

YES I was pumped to be snowed in for a few days with my hubby and my little love BUT lets face it, if we did get all that snow we'd all be complaining.  So for now lets enjoy it and wish for spring days ahead filled with birds chirping and flowers blooming.

I don't know about you,but during these winter months I get cabin fever, go to bed super early, hibernate, pretend I'm a Top Chef in my kitchen whipping up comfort foods and put my feet up every chance I get. Spring is right around the corner and I DON'T stop when the that lovely weather appears, so for now... I relax.

But, here's one of my biggest pet peeves during these long winter months...

Although I may not have a solution for it all- I do have a few beauty tricks that I use every winter that help beat the skin troubles that most of us face this time of year.

Here are a few ideas that work for me and hope they do the same for you!!

  • Exfoliate with a good scrub to remove all the dead dry skin particles on your face and body. It's so refreshing after a good scrub!!
  • DON'T use HOT water!! I know it's cold this time of year, but that scolding hot water will only dry you out more- go for lukewarm (your skin and hair will thank you)
  •  Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize-  (I'm a firm believer in Coconut Oil)
  • Hydrate- our body naturally hydrates from the inside out so drink up my friends and not the booze... some good ole' H2O.
  • Humidifiers are key. I have one built into my furnace and one in my bedroom.
  • Masks that are hydrating and provide any deep cleansing.
  • Eat a good and healthy diet full of fruits, veggies and lean proteins. (My comfort foods don't apply here)
  • Did I mention water...good. DRINK IT!!

Other than that, just embrace yourself people!!

I'm a Puerto Rican/Irish gal with amazing skin, color and beautiful hydration in the summer months and awful red, blotchy, inflamed skin in the winter. But regardless, it's me and I love it, well sometimes!!

Any questions, head on over to my reach out section and shoot me a question. I love a good challenge!!

Thank you blistery cold nights ,forced hot air, blasting heat in the car and not enough moisture, we do love you, but WE LOVE SPRING/SUMMER that much more!!

Kisses, Love and Mascara Always,

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays behind us and a New Year ahead, it is with great PRIDE and EXCITEMENT that, at the start of 2015 I have OFFICIALLY launched my website! I recreated and rebranded Caitlin Cotter Makeup Artistry with a new and fun logo, new business cards and now have a new and amazing location to top it all off. CCMA is in full(er) swing and there's no looking back.

CCMA is now a part of the chic and fun collaborative group known as The Wedding Loft of Connecticut, located at 18 Daniel Street in the heart of downtown Milford.  The Loft is shared with the incredible and extremely talented Amy Champagne Events, Brooke Allison Photography and Roseville Designs. -The idea behind The Wedding Loft is to have access to a gorgeous space for each of our individual clients to enjoy and meet us. What a joy, honor and privilege to get to call these gals my loft mates.  This is an amazing opportunity to take my business to the next level and be amongst some of the best in the industry.

Now with 2015 here and CCMA located at The Wedding Loft, I will be taking all consultations, trials, small parties and more there. Be sure to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, my Website and blog posts for all the fun and exciting offers I have up my sleeve.

With all that has happened in the past few months since getting this amazing opportunity I truly need to say thank you to so many people who have helped make this dream become a reality.

First and foremost  to The Wedding Loft gals for welcoming me with open arms into their space. It's such a warm feeling knowing that they share the same passion about their careers as I do mine. Makeup for any occasion for you three always. Brooke, you really outdid yourself with all the beautiful pictures of my corner, I truly appreciate it. Sandy, for organizing all the social media and TWL posts. And to my dear friend and my wedding planner herself Amy for her constant help, business advice, and extremely hard work on this beautiful website, and for the encouragement I've needed. I am forever grateful for all your guidance. I love you all so very much and can't wait!!!

A big thanks to all my family and lones for all their advice, editing skills, and help anytime that I have asked.

To my in-laws through love, Bill and Colleen for taking Addie girl on all day adventures so I can go back and forth to Home Goods, Marshall's and IKEA a million times to get just the right pieces for the loft, for giving me time to set up my corner in the loft and for allowing me hours of time to work on my website.

My parents, John and Amy for always believing in me, constantly supporting ALL of my dreams and giving me great business advice!! Thank you for always watching Addison so I can attend meetings, work on my site, create new logos, and just work, work, work.

Last but not least my rock and #1 fan Ryan, who hasn’t had a home cooked meal in a few weeks, constantly is talking “makeup” even during Rangers games, who has reviewed this website and embraced everything I said, who at 2 am is there to listen when an idea pops in my head, for supporting me always and telling me when I am scared out of my mind to keep pushing through and to follow my dream, and who has really taken on the role of “Mr.Mom” from cleaning, cooking (sort of) and being the best dad ever to our Addie girl and Hankster.

2015 will take on new challenges of being a business owner, wife and mother but I promise I will take one day at a time and breathe through each stride I take! My heart is bursting with excitement, pride and great joy for what the future will bring!

Kisses, Love and Mascara Always,
